The goal of fall ball is to provide a combination of top level technique training and competitive game opportunities for athletes to learn and enjoy the game and prepare them for the 2018-2019 club volleyball season. Sessions usually fill up so sign up early. Here are the details:
Fall ball is a eight week training program starting in late August ending towards the end of October (prior to Tryouts November 3 & 4th). It consists of two 1 1/2 to 2-hours sessions per week of both instructional training and competitive games. We expect players to learn the correct techniques of passing, hitting, serving and setting, as well as anticipation, teamwork, chaos management, quick decision making, competitiveness, and win/lose understanding; all essential in this amazing game. Mid week sessions focus on skill development, with week-end’s focus on performance/level based player grouping competitive games; grouping similar levels of players together, adjusted as required for individual’s growth and needs and play, play, play. Age and skill level groupings of 10’s-12’s Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced and 13’s-14’s Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced happen throughout the program. We also plan a variety of additional skill specific clinics to help with both fall ball play and prepare for tryouts and the club season. Bottom line, we want girls to learn correct skills and play as much as possible in game situations.
Two primary geographic locations and multiple practice gyms will be utilized for your convenience
For LaMorinda families, we utilize Wagner Ranch gym in Orinda, Monday/Wednesday evenings
For Danville/San Ramon/Alamo families, we utilize multiple gyms on a variety of evenings and week-ends at the Athenian school, Charlotte Wood Middle school, SRV United Methodist Church, and Stone Valley Middle School. Girls have the opportunity to choose/move locations to get the most and best experience.
Walnut creek residence, since the Vibe courts at the Shadelands sportsmall will not be open until October, are encouraged to participate in either our Orinda or our Alamo/Danville program.
Cost per participant is $435 for our eight week program running from late August through the end of October. A $40 registration fee is collected up from with the balance to be paid at the beginning of the session.
Players will be evaluated and grouped into ability level as/if necessary to provide challenging, enjoyable and high individual growth competitive experiences. With multiple locations/gyms/days/and times, we have the ability to group girls of similar abilities for ideal play environment for all levels. We will have an Elite level of play as well as groups for skill based development. Time and location changes may be necessary to accommodate groupings.
Saturdays and Sunday will be utilized for additional play, competitive games, specialized skill training, and small group training. Additional days/times could be added as gym time gets finalized and sessions fill up.

The hope is to provide both great/convenient locations for the girls to play at (and parents to transport) and group girls with equal ability to make each game/session very competitive. Depending upon the flexibility of each athlete, I will suggest players to participate in different time frames and location for improved grouping to support this plan. With the amount of court time we have reserved and the number of excellent athletes we have, I expect every location to have play at every level. Both beginners and experienced players will benefit through this program. Times and locations could change and/or be added as issues/opportunities arise.
Along with the training, information about the game, the club season, and the variety of opportunities to play in the area will be provided. Parents are always welcome to get involved.
With the training we are doing over the summer in Vibe’s summer clinic program, the number of girls in our beach program, the special sessions with our guest coaches, the returning players from last year, and that the word is out on the street about our plans and expectations for this upcoming season, I expect our Fall Ball program to rock!!! I am quite excited about what the sport of volleyball is doing in the area.
